Values have lost their worth
At times I sit in silence by the road’s old bend,
watching how time drifts by, refusing to amend.
The world keeps turning - blind - within its shadowed dance,
and childhood’s sleeping demons wake from their trance:
envy, pride, cold ego, false masks that betray,
hearts of frozen marble where love fades away.
.
No longer do we cherish a word that is true,
nor the gentle manner of friends we once knew.
Now all is traded, bought, and sold for gain,
and in the name of power, the soul is slain.
Faith, honor, tenderness - all turned to dust,
forgotten in the fever of greed and lust.
.
The hypocrites smile with serpent eyes,
rejoicing when another dreamer dies;
they climb on others, chasing a hollow star,
and purity fades like a wound or a scar.
.
Then I recall - as Zafón once said -:
“The world belongs to the mad, or to the dead.”
And I, I choose the madness of believing still,
to rise, to love, to fight against the chill.
.
I cannot be the shade that wounds or lies,
nor the tongue that poisons or defies.
I’d rather stand bare of pride and pain,
to walk through tears, through loss, through rain.
.
For though the day is heavy, and hope seems small,
my heart keeps burning - it will not fall.
And if I’ve anything left to give, to share,
it is my love - my soul laid bare.
...
NON VALGONO PIÙ I VALORI
.
.
I falsi sorridono, con denti affilati,
godendo del naufragio dei sogni abbandonati;
calpestano le vite cercando la fortuna,
e l’anima che era luce diventa bruma.
.
Allora mi domando - come scrisse Zafón -:
sarà il mio amore puro... fino all’ultimo amare.
